2013
Dakari Johnson-Officially chopped his list to three. SU, Kentucky, and Georgetown making the final cut. I expect another SU vs Kentucky recruiting slugfest in this one.
Chinonso Obokoh-Unfortunately he is expected to be out indefinitely according his coach, due to an foot injury. Obokoh has been dealing with the injury before the season started. Obokoh's Bishop Kearney, is off to to a disapointing 1-2 start.
Ron Patterson-Lots of hype and anticipation for his Brewster teammate Chris McCullough, but Patterson over the last few weeks has started to show that he's worthy of praise as well. In his last 3 games for Brewster Academy, Patterson has led the team in scoring by averaging 20.3PPG.
Rysheed Jordan-There was some talk that after Patterson committed, that the SU staff would still target Jordan. It doesn't look to be the case anymore, as Jordan has stated he could decide between Temple, St. John's, and UCLA any moment now.
2014
Chris McCullough-Has stated on numerous occasions his desire to reclassify in the 2013 class. Unfortunately for him it seems to be wishful thinking on his part and it appears highly unlikely that he'll be able to do so. Update-As first reported by Adam Zagoria, McCullough has officially announced that he'll stay in the 2014 class.
Isaiah Whitehead-Recently told Scout that SU, Zona, and Louisville are some of the schools recruiting him the hardest among others. As stated on here before, SU still leads but don't look for a decision anytime soon.
Goodluck Okonoboh-Stated SU, Kentucky, and Mizzou were showing the most interest. Mike Hopkins attended Okonoboh's game last week. Okonoboh's Wilbraham & Monson squad was blown out by Tyler Ennis and St. Benedict's this past Sunday.
A few new names to remember that has been recently offered by SU are SG Dion Wiley and PF Jakeenan Gant.
2015
Isaiah Briscoe-His Father told Scout recently that SU, Florida, and Zona currently stand out. Stated that no decision will be made until next summer, when they see how the considered schools rosters are looking like with their current guards.
Other 2015 names that the SU staff has checked out for fans to keep their eyes on are the following below.
Cheick Diallo C
Malachi Richardson SG/SF
Marcus Derrickson CF

Tyler Roberson Commits To Syracuse
Syracuse lands their 5th commit in 6'8 combo forward Tyler Roberson. Roberson displays similar skills as current Orange CJ Fair. He's a good shooter from mid-range that can slash to the basket, rebounds well and plays with a good motor. This will wrap up SU's class for the fall signing period but look for them to add another player or two during the spring period next year.

Noah Vonleh Commits To Indiana
SU and several other schools were hoping to get visits from Vonleh. Unfortunately for them while on his first official to Indiana, Vonleh decided to end things quickly and give the Hoosiers his commitment.

Recruiting Updates
2013
Tyler Roberson PF-Closing in on a decision soon and the word is that it could go either way between SU and Villanova.
Noah Vonleh PF-According to a source, Vonleh still has interest in SU and is trying to reschedule his visit. Keep an eye on the Roberson situation because if he commits, then it will most likely knock Vonleh out of the equation.
Rysheed Jordan CG-With the commitment of SG Ron Patterson, most would think Jordan isn't an option for SU anymore. While I still think that he'll most likely stay home and play for Temple. It hasn't stop the SU staff from recruiting him and if Michael Carter-Williams enters the draft, then another spot opens up for another guard.
Dakari Johnson C-Recently reclassified but the main schools stay the same from the last update. No decision will be made until the spring.
Jermaine Lawrence PF-Listed a final four of SU, St. John's, UNLV, and Cincy. Will still decide in the spring.
2014
Isaiah Whitehead SG-Chopped his list with SU, St. John's, Kentucky, Maryland, and Arizona being some of the notables. SU has put themselves in a good position with Whitehead, but look for him to go through the process and play the field before making a decision.
Stanley Johnson SF-Listed schools such as SU, Kentucky, Arizona, UCLA, USC, Washington, and Louisville as the main schools recruiting him. Johnson was rumored to be an Arizona lean over the summer.

Chris McCullough Commits To Syracuse and Dakari Johnson Reclassifies To 2013
Busy day on the recruiting front for SU basketball recruiting. Just a few days removed from teammate Ron Patterson committing to SU. Chris McCullough decides to end his recruitment early and commits to the Orange. There are rumors of McCullough possibly reclassifying to the 2013 class, but for now he remains in 2014.
Speaking of reclassifying, big man Dakari Johnson has decided to enter the 2013 class. Joining other SU targets such as Noah Vonleh and Andrew Wiggins, both who have recently made the switch in classes as well.

Ron Patterson Commits To Syracuse
While currently on his official visit to SU, Ron Patterson the former Indiana commit decided to make an commitment to the Orange. Patterson is a 6'3 athletic and physical guard, that can shoot, defend, and has an amazing 6'11 wingspan, which will cause opponents major problems up top in the zone. Not the best off the dribble but he's using his prep year to work on it and hopefully he will improve in that department when he hits college.

Recruiting Updates
2013
Noah Vonleh PF-Chopped his list to six teams. Those making the cut are SU, UConn, G-Town, Indiana, Ohio St, and UNC. He'll visit SU on the first weekend of November, and along with the Orange, look for Indiana and Ohio St to be the main contenders in this battle.
Tyler Roberson PF-Just wrapped up his visit to Kansas. SU, KU, UK, and Rutgers are fighting hard for services. SU has put themselves in good position in this one but it can go either way. Update-Roberson has chopped his list to three schools, SU, Kansas, and Villanova.
Rysheed Jordan CG-Word is that it's mainly a two team race between SU & Temple. I would expect to hear a decision from Jordan soon.
Ron Patterson SG-Received an offer from SU last week and if Jordan decides not to attend SU, then there is a good chance that Patterson will end up being SU's next commit whenever he visits.
2014
Dakari Johnson C-For over the past year, I was always told that this could end up coming down to another SU & UK battle for a big man. Recently I have received word that Florida has made up a lot of ground and has become a legitimate contender in this recruitment. Johnson recently made a visit to SU last month.
2015
Thomas Bryant PF-Teammate of recent SU commit Chinonso Obokoh at Bishop Kearney in Rochester, NY. Bryant recently visited SU for their Midnight Madness event and attended practice the very next day. Even though SU has done a very good job with their recruiting efforts early on, according to a source, Bryant is very high on the UNC program and they've been the other main program to have shown him serious interest in return as well. Coach Boeheim has done a very good job keeping local talent at home lately, let's hope things will be the same in this department.
2016
Rodney Miller C-This big man from New Jersey, who will attend St. Benedict's Prep along with Tyler Ennis and Isaiah Briscoe is a name to lookout for. While still very young, Miller presents a huge upside and has the potential to be one of the very best players in his class at his position.

BJ Johnson Commits to Syracuse
For the second day in a row SU receives another commitment. Johnson is a 6'8 wing from Philly, and being a year younger for his grade he presents plenty of upside down the line. While he needs to get stronger, he's a good shooter, decent athlete, and impacts the game defensively. Look for a redshirt year to benefit Johnson greatly.
Monday, October 15, 2012
Chinonso Obokoh Commits to Syracuse
After visiting SU for an official visit this past weekend. Obokoh decided to end things early and give SU his commitment. Obokoh is new to the game of basketball after coming over from Nigeria a few years ago. He presents good upside already being a strong defensive presence inside, along with an good motor getting up and down the court.
Wayne Selden commits to Kansas
Selden was suppose to visit SU next after attending the Kansas midnight madness. Instead he has decided to end things after the recent visit and has given Kansas his commitment. That leaves Rysheed Jordan as SU's main combo guard target at the moment.
Friday, October 12, 2012
James Young Commits to Kentucky
SU made a late push to get into Young's final group of schools and were hoping to get a visit. That never happened with SU or any other school outside of Kentucky, and without much suspense the Wildcats received his commitment to go along with the Harrison Twins.

Recruiting Updates
2013
Wayne Selden SG-Cuts list to 6. SU, UF, OSU, UCLA, Kansas, and Mizzou. Over the summer Selden favored UF and OSU, but things are more open now and SU stands a decent shot to land him.
Tyler Roberson CF-Cuts list to 10. SU, Alabama, South Carolina, Rutgers, and Seton Hall are the main schools to look out for. Roberson plans to take an official visit to SU soon.
Jermaine Lawrence PF-Cut list to 7. Which includes SU, UK, UCLA, St. John's, and Cincy among others. SU looks to be the current leader but Lawrence doesn't have any visits planned yet, and isn't in any rush to make a decision.
Youssoupha Kane C-Has decided to sign with a Juco. SU expressed some interest in the big man back in the spring.
2014
Trey Lyles PF-Since decommitting from Indiana, some have wondered if SU was recruiting him or not due to certain rumors being tossed around. Scout had an update on his recruitment and SU was not listed as one of the schools currently recruiting him.
Chris McCullough PF-SU has made him one of their main priorities for 2014. When McCullough visits next week for the elite camp, it will be his second visit to SU, which bodes well for their chances to land him.
Dakari Johnson C-Received new offers from UNC and OSU over the summer. Now both schools are strongly in the mix along with SU and UK for the talented big man.
Goodluck Okonoboh PF and Malik Price-Martin PF-Both have now reclassified to 2014. SU offered both in the 2013 class, so I'm sure tabs will be kept on both for 2014.
2015
Isaiah Briscoe CG-It would be a surprise if he didn't commit to SU sooner than later.
The following 2015 players are names to pay closely attention to for the years to come.
Thomas Bryant PF
Montaque Gill Caesar SF
Franklin Howard SG
Bryant Crawford PG
Malachi Richardson SG
Lamarr Kimble PG

Jessie Govan C

My SU targets spring evaluations Pt1
Some of my notes on several SU targets and other players from recent events after getting a chance to watch their games.
2013
Tyler Ennis PG-The best pure PG in the 2013 class in my opinion. Great court vision making several sharp passes for finishes inside. Was able to either finish strong on drives to the hole or draw fouls. Outside shot is solid enough to keep the defense honest. Solid defender with good anticipation to get steals. Needs to get stronger because at times he can struggle against bigger defenders.
Rysheed Jordan PG/SG-Good size for a guard, can handle and penetrate into the lane very well. Not afraid of contact and had some amazing finishes inside. Has long arms, which helps him on the defensive end to force steals. Didn't see him knock down any perimeter jumpers in the two games that I watched and went 1-6 from the line in one game. Looks more comfortable playing off the ball than being a lead guard.
BeeJay Anya C-Tough game for him in the one that I watched. Struggled to finish inside against the athletic Texas A&M football commit Derrick Griffin, and he didn't make much of an impact on the defensive end either. Did show off a nice hook shot move in the post several times but those shots never went down.
Chinonso Obokoh C-Good size, long, athletic and plays with a lot of energy. Played the middle of the zone and did an outstanding job blocking and altering shots inside. I counted at least 7 blocks in one game. Didn't get many touches inside from his guards but when the opportunities came he didn't hesitate to try and score. Showed a good touch from the line and isn't shy about shooting mid-range shots. Needs to get stronger and learn not to be careless bringing down the ball, as he was strip several times for doing so. Obokoh has only been playing ball in the states since 2010, so obviously with good coaching and work ethic his best ball is ahead of him.
Goodluck Okonoboh PF-Very athletic and plays with a high motor. Big time shot blocker who despite not being very big isn't afraid to battle down low. Complete non-factor on the offensive end as his teammates never looked for him inside even when he had good position down low. Reminds me of a smaller version of current SU all hustle man Baye Moussa Keita.
Ishmail Wainright SF-Paul Harris clone in do it all fashion. Solid athlete with a strong upper body that handles, defends, and rebounds. Showed good vision in half court sets racking up several assist. Scored most of his points inside and does all the little things that never show up in the box scores. Never looked for his outside shot and the only one that he attempted was a 30ft prayer that went in at the buzzer to win the game.
Jaylen Brantley PG-Good shooter with deep range. Decent ball handler who likes to get into the lane and shoot mid-range floaters when the three point shot isn't there. Was reported that he had grown up to 6ft but still looks very small at probably 5'10 tops and is more of a scorer than distributor at this point.
2014
Dakari Johnson C-College ready right now despite being 2 years away from college. Strong big man who finishes well inside with a variety of post moves. Good feel for the game and knows how to find the open man out of double teams. Handles the rock well for somebody his size. Conditioning is still an issue as he looked to get tired after being in for long strong stretches.
The rest are notes on other players who are not cuse targets but could be of interest down line.
2013
Josh Hart SG-Good size for a SG at 6'5. Three level scorer who can score from deep, mid-range, and inside.
Will Ferguson PG-Very fast and brought a lot of energy for his team. Passed the ball well, knocked down a few jumpers and had a strong finish inside. A little bit on the small side but a definite high-major player.
EC Matthews SG-A lefty who specializes in getting into the lane shooting floaters and knocking down mid-range shots.
Duane Notice PG-Plays the back-up role to Tyler Ennis on the CIA Bounce squad but is a very solid player. More of scorer than a pure point but he showed the ability to drive strong and finish in the lane. Also knocked down a three and shot well from the line.
Demarcus Croaker SG-Athletic guard who can score from three levels. Plays on a loaded team with three 5 star players but still manages to stand out with his impressive skill set and offensive versatility.
Chris Walker PF-Long athletic player who makes most of his impact on the defensive end. Very good shot blocker and decent rebounder. Needs to develop a go to move, as his offense is basically dunks and put backs.
2014
Joel Berry PG-Good ball handler with a smooth stroke from the outside. Gets a little careless at times with the ball but for the most part does a good job running his team.
Trayvon Reed C-Checked out his team to watch a couple of other players who had claimed interest from SU but Reed stood out the most in a big way. Reed is long, athletic and makes a big impact on both sides of the ball. He dunks everything in sight, can score inside, and even has touch to shoot it from the perimeter. Defensively he blocks and alters shots in the lane and does a good job rebounding out of his area. Needs to stronger but that should come as he gets older.
Justin Jackson SF-Lanky small forward with deep range and a smooth overall game. Not great off the bounce but only needed a few dribbles to show off a solid mid-range game.

Stanford Robinson commits to Indiana
Robinson made a visit to Indiana after the Nike EYBL concluded on Sunday, and ended up making a commitment for the Hoosiers tonight. SU had shown interest in Robinson for over the past year but no offer was officially made. This could also play a key role in Indiana landing BeeJay Anya, who is AAU teammates with Robinson and currently has them high on his list.

Could Rochester's Bishop Kearney duo be next in line for the Orange?
By Christian Claps
Over the past couple seasons, the Syracuse Orange has had its fair share of high school teammates. Paul Harris and Jonny Flynn. Scoop Jardine and Rick Jackson. As well as Brandon Triche and DaJuan Coleman are a few recent examples. That trend has the potential to continue with two teammates down the road in Rochester, New York at Bishop Kearney High School with Thomas Bryant and Chinoso Obokoh. Respectfully they are two of the top players in their respective classes. Obokoh in 2013 and Bryant in 2015.
Chinoso Obokoh is a 6'9 215 pound forward whom is rated by all of the major scouting sites as a 3 star player. Obokoh currently holds scholarship offers from Oregon, West Virginia, Villanova and Temple to name a few. Syracuse as of late has shown a lot of interest in the Bishop Kearney prospect however without an official offer.
Thomas Bryant is a 6'9 forward who is already receiving heavy interest from some of the top programs in the country. Outside of Syracuse, UNC, UConn and Pittsburgh have all been in touch with Bryant. Earlier this year Bryant was named MVP of the Super 16 National Freshman Game which features the top 16 freshman in the country.
Being such a close proximity to Bishop Kearney High School, you can count on Syracuse coaches to continue to monitor the progress of these two top prospects through the course of next year and the following years after.

Recruiting Nuggets
This Friday marks the return of the spring evaluation period, in which coaches can watch players at AAU events for the first time since 2008. The SU staff will be very busy on the road where events will take place from Pittsburgh, and all the way out to Vegas. I will have a list of players that the staff will target at those events on Thursday.
This past weekend Goodluck Okonoboh(2013 PF) and Chris McCullough(2014 PF) were both in action and had very good performances from what I was told. Okonoboh still lacks offensive polish but plays with a very high motor and is always active on both ends of the court. McCullough showed the ability to knock down jumpers, and handle the ball very well for somebody his size. Not only limited for the 4 spot, but McCullough is starting to show that he can play at the 3 as well.
The SU staff has shown a lot of interest as of late in SF Ishmail Wainright. Wainright is originally from Missouri, but now plays his high school ball at Montrose Christian in Maryland. Wainright is also going to suit up for Team Takeover this Spring/Summer, which features several other SU targets as well.
The SU staff has also recently been in touch with 2014 Philly SG Sean Lloyd. Lloyd isn't an household name at this point but he has sparked interest from other high-majors as well besides SU.
Some have wondered whatever happened to Duane Notice from Canada, who some thought was going to be one of the premier players in the 2013 class. While he hasn't been a big name in the states up to this point, which could be due to staying in Canada for high school ball. The fact still remains that he's still a good prospect who has recently earned offers from good programs such as Cincy, Mizzou, Minnesota, and New Mexico. Notice will be the backcourt mate of SU target Tyler Ennis, for their CIA Bounce squad. Should be interesting to see if SU shows interest in him moving forward.
Things have been quiet on the Kuran Iverson front. I have been told despite the issues at UConn, Iverson is still a heavy lean to stay in-state and play for the hometown Huskies. Iverson is also very high on Kentucky, so the main competition could come from them if they offer him a scholarship.
In my best guards available post that I made a few months ago. Daiquan Walker and Torian Graham were two of the better guards left that I thought SU could give a good look at. At this point it's looking like both will end up at prep schools next season, which would obviously make them unavailable for 2012.
News broke yesterday that former SU target and Duke freshman Michael Gbinije plans to transfer, and SU has already reached out. Gbinije was originally offered by SU before he committed to Duke. Also Red Autry was his main recruiter back at Va Tech. The SU staff is very familiar with him and they could end up being the most logical choice, unless Duke blocks SU from Gbinije's list due to their future ACC membership. I like Gbinije as a tall SG with a high b-ball IQ, who can shoot with range and score on drives to the hole against smaller defenders. On defense, his 6'6 size would cause a lot of problems for other guards in the zone. Below is his highlight video from his senior season in high school for those not familar with his game.

Nerlens Noel commits to Kentucky
In a recruitment that saw all types of twist and turns in the end, Kentucky comes out the winner. For awhile it looked to be 50-50 between SU and UK, then it seemed SU had the advantage. In the end Georgetown made a big push and seemed to be the likely choice but John Calipari was able to pull it off in the end for his Kentucky Wildcats.

SU recruiting targets in action 5-8
Today markes the first day when the AAU season begins. The following below are a list of SU targets that will be playing and I'll have updates on any new info.
2013
Tyler Ennis PG-Led his CIA Bounce squad to an elite 8 appearance in the Swish n Dish tourney out in Milwaukee.
Stanford Robinson SG-Robinson was one of the standouts in the Under Armour Grind Session event according Rivals. Still no offer by SU yet, but I expect him to be watched closely by the SU staff when the open evaluation period beins in a few weeks.
2014
Dwayne Morgan SF-Morgan listed SU, Maryland, West Virginia, and Clemson among others at the Grind Session event.
Wade Baldwin PG-Also from the Grind Session event, Baldwin claims SU, along with Georgetown, Va Tech, Seton Hall, Rutgers, and Northwestern are all showing interest.
Cassidy Ryan SF/PF-According to Scout, the Canadian combo forward listed early in interest from SU, San Diego St, USC, and New Mexico St.
2015
Isaiah Briscoe CG-Besides SU, Briscoe currently holds offers from Arizona, Rutgers, Seton Hall, Baylor, and Cincy.
Thomas Bryant PF-Evan Daniels from Scout raved about Bryant's performance this weekend. He stated that Bryant is already one of the top prospects overall in the 2015 class. Also mentioned was his ability to defend by rebounding, blocking shots, and showing a good face-up game knocking down jumpers.

Nerlens Noel update
Despite what the media has said about Noel leaning towards Kentucky or Georgetown. I have been told that SU still has a great shot and barring some last minute change(which is always possible in recruiting)SU is the most likely choice. Georgetown is the biggest wildcard here and with Calipari, you can never count Kentucky fully out.

2013-15 Recruiting targets update
2013
Tyler Ennis PG-#1 PG target currently for SU. Zona, Louisville, Ga Tech, and Kansas are making strong pushes as well.
BeeJay Anya C-Currently lists a gang of schools but it's looking like it could come down to SU & Indiana.
Chinonso Obokoh C-The SU staff attended several of his games this past season and I believe that he will blow up this spring/summer in AAU ball for the Albany City Rock. Several Big East schools have also showed a lot of interest such as Nova, Pitt, and Providence among others.
Tyler Roberson SF/PF-Roberson has been watched numerous times by the SU staff for over the last year. He's a skilled lanky forward who can play inside and out. He has offers from pretty much the whole Big East already.
Hakim Saintil PG-Teammate of Tyler Roberson and has been checked out by the SU staff lately.
Stanford Robinson SG-Red Autry has been checking out this smooth lefty guard for a long time now. Robinson currently has offers from numerous ACC schools but if or when SU offers things could get interesting.
Ishmail Wainwright SG/SF-Moved to Maryland from Missouri to finish up his high school ball and plans to play for Team Takeover this spring/summer. Claims an offer from SU and it was rumored last summer that St. John's and UCLA leads, but he says that he is currently wide open.
Anthony "Cat" Barber PG-Listed SU in his top 5 recently but he expressed his desire to play for Duke if they were to offer.
Antravious Simmons PF/C-Bogus reports from a fake twitter account had him as a SU commit, but that was not the case. Simmons has not committed to SU, but is being currently recruited by them along with Memphis, Alabama, Florida, USF, and VCU.
2014
Dakari Johnson C-Has a top 4 of SU, Kentucky, Florida, and G-Town. This one could turn out to be another SU vs Kentucky showdown in the end.
Isaiah Whitehead SG-Continues to list SU as a favorite, but the Lincoln/SU relationship has never been a match.
Phil Booth SG-B-More/Team Takeover recruit that has stated recently that SU is his early favorite.
Theo Pinson SF-Has SU among his favorites in his recent recruiting list. I think it will be tough to get this North Carolina resident out of the state.
2015
Isaiah Briscoe PG-Briscoe's Father told Adam Zagoria that SU is recruiting his son the hardest. It's still early but SU is looking like the team to beat in this battle.
Thomas Bryant PF-JB and the rest of the staff has watched this young athletic forward in action multiple times already. Bryant is considered one of the best prospects in the 2015 class and is already getting interest from high-major schools around the nation as well.
